Partizan Club, Coca-Cola and REKA Pastry plant 100 trees in the Lake Park
Two years ago, in the southern part of Lake Tirana there was only barracks and garbage, becoming a problem for the inhabitants of the area and the pollution of the lake. Today, the Roma minority living there has been housed by the Municipality of Tirana in comfortable apartments in Shkoza and Lanabregas, and the space has been returned to the park with more trees, adding to the lungs of the city of Tirana.
The company “Coca-Cola”, the football team “Partizani” and REKA Pastry also helped to plant 100 new trees in this area. The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that with this pace, the number of 122 thousand trees set as a goal to be planted until April 22 will be exceeded.
“I am very happy that even in these last days, before we catch April 22, we will exceed the number of 122 thousand trees planted. Until a year ago this was a busy land. I remember the turmoil that was created then, but the land was not only liberated, not only today the Roma minority lives better, a work for which we received an award, but Tirana as a whole lives better. So, we showed how 1% can not hinder the development of the other 99%, but there is a way how even 1% and 99% can live better, thanks to the initiatives of the municipality”, said Veliaj.
He thanked the Partizan football team that became part of the green revolution, contributing to a cleaner environment. “A good athlete above all is also a good citizen, so I thank you, first of all for the citizenship and as you score goals on the field, you have scored ‘goals’ today in the field of citizenship. “I am very grateful to the boys of the team who gave us a spectacle in this field”, said the mayor.
Another partner of the Municipality of Tirana in the transformation of the capital is the company “Coca-Cola”, which this time again showed its social responsibility, donating 60 trees for the Lake Park. “I do not believe there is a group like Coca-Cola that always keeps its word. It helped us for a playground, but also for many initiatives we had in the Municipality of Tirana. I finally see how they kept their word for the trees too. I thank them very much for the 60 trees and I can’t wait to continue with other projects because I believe that a good company lives with the rhythm of the city”, said Veliaj.
REKA Pastry also became part of the action for planting trees, donating 20 trees. “A family business, but also a way to show that you do not need to be a very large corporation to give, everyone gives as much as possible. I appreciate very much that not only do you sweeten our day in the city with your fantastic work, but you also sweeten us by planting trees”, added Veliaj.
The president of “Coca-Cola Bottling Shqipëria”, Luca Busi said he was happy to be part of the action and that the company is contributing to give life to environmental sustainability. “I am very proud to have been part of this project. Congratulations to the mayor of Tirana because it is a wonderful project. We support environmental sustainability initiatives and once this beautiful project started we decided to join. We also support an active lifestyle, so we gave life to this beautiful ‘lung’ that is the Lake Tirana and moreover I see that it is a wonderful park”, said Busi.
The sports director of Football-Club “Partizani”, Olsi Rama expressed his satisfaction that this team also joined the green action, while appreciating the transformation that has undergone the Lake Park. “I thank the Municipality of Tirana for the wonderful work for the renovation of the park. Now I see a complete transformation and for this I am very happy that Partizan is also giving its contribution. When I told the boys about the initiative, they immediately reacted positively, not only to the fact that they sometimes train here, but because they are not only good athletes, but also good activists. Tirana is becoming a metropolitan city, a cosmopolitan city, which is increasing its values through the great work of the municipality”, said Rama.
