In its third report, CCBS details its industrial transformation in Albania: revenue up 3.4%, waste recovery at 85%, 31% self-generated energy, and the challenge of achieving carbon neutrality. President Luca Busi: “Growth and sustainability moving in the same direction.”
TIRANA – Economic growth, industrial investment, and an ambitious challenge: to become the first Carbon-Neutral industrial company in Albania by 2030. This is the development path of Coca-Cola Bottling Shqipëria (CCBS), which presents its third Sustainability Report, highlighting a 2025 marked by positive economic results and progress in environmental resource management.
Revenue grew by 3.4%, reaching 6.13 billion Albanian lek, while photovoltaic energy covered 31% of electricity consumption. Waste recovery in the plant reached 85%, and the use of recycled materials in packaging increased by 7 percentage points, from 46% to 53%.

These figures reflect an ongoing industrial transformation, in which sustainability is integrated into the company’s strategic decisions and guides investments aimed at making production processes increasingly efficient.
“For us, growth and sustainability are not separate paths; they must move in the same direction,” emphasizes Luca Busi, President of CCBS. “Sustainability is no longer simply an objective to be pursued alongside the core business. It is part of the decisions we make every day, the investments we choose to pursue, and the value we aim to create for our customers, our people, communities, and the environment.”
Renewable materials accounted for 74% of all materials used, including raw materials and packaging. Waste management also showed significant improvement: the recovery rate at the plant increased from 79% to 85%, despite higher production volumes and the commissioning of a new returnable glass bottle line. Facility modernization represents one of the year’s key strategic investments. This transformation has supported production growth and aims to progressively improve industrial efficiency.
The report also documents the challenges associated with this phase of development. In 2025, direct Scope 1 emissions increased by 606 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent compared with the previous year, mainly due to operational factors related to the introduction and stabilization of the new production lines. The company expects the benefits of these investments to emerge gradually over the 2026–2027 period.
Water resource management is another priority of the environmental strategy. The new Water Efficiency Roadmap sets a target to improve water-use efficiency by 25–30% by 2030 through investments in facilities, more advanced monitoring systems, the reuse of rinse water, and low-consumption technologies.
“We have a clear goal: to become the first carbon-neutral industrial company in Albania by 2030,” Busi emphasizes. “It is an ambitious objective, and we know that simply stating it is not enough. We must invest, change processes, improve efficiency, and measure every step forward.”

CCBS’s sustainability is also measured by its contribution to the local economy. Approximately 80% of its supplier base consists of Albanian businesses, reflecting a strategy that prioritizes economic relationships rooted in the local community and the development of long-term supply chains.
In 2025, the workforce reached 400 employees. At the same time, investment in training increased, totaling 6,420 hours compared with 6,020 the previous year, a 7% increase, with particular emphasis on environmental, quality, and safety-related topics. The company’s social commitment also translated into support for inclusion and responsible citizenship initiatives, including its partnership with Special Olympics Albania.

The third Sustainability Report confirms CCBS’s ongoing transformation journey, built on industrial investment, technological innovation, responsible resource management, and the development of its people.
“Sustainability is not limited to a single reporting year,” concludes Luca Busi. “It is measured by our ability to keep improving, correct what is not working, invest, and maintain a clear focus on long-term goals.”
