Luca Busi, President of CCBS: “We will proudly guard the ‘Key of Tirana’ by opening new doors toward an increasingly sustainable future.”
Tirana – In recognition of its long-standing contribution to economic development, environmental responsibility, and social progress, Coca-Cola Bottling Shqipëria (CCBS) has been honored with the prestigious “Key of Tirana City” award. The distinction was presented by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, to CCBS President Luca Busi.
The award reflects CCBS’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its business processes, actively supporting the community, and fostering innovation that contributes to employment, economic growth, and environmental stewardship across the country.
The “Key of Tirana City” is the highest honor bestowed by the municipality, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made a meaningful impact on the development and transformation of the capital. The recognition also marks CCBS’s nearly three decades of presence in Albania, during which the company has played an active role in driving positive change and supporting local communities.
“Albania is our home,” said President Luca Busi during the ceremony. “Receiving the ‘Key of Tirana City’ is a symbol of our shared journey and common goals. It motivates us to continue opening new doors—through investment, sustainable development, and strong public-private partnerships—for a better future.”
Mayor Veliaj praised CCBS and President Busi for their continued commitment to the country, noting the company’s role as one of the first major international investors in Albania in the early 1990s. Since then, CCBS has evolved into a pioneer of sustainable practices, launching initiatives that support environmental protection, economic development, and community well-being.
President Busi expressed gratitude to the city and its people:
“I would like to thank the Mayor and the entire Albanian community for their warm hospitality, which has supported the growth and integration of our company. We were pioneers in building a business model that benefits the country, and we will continue to invest with dedication—especially in human capital.”
He highlighted three key pillars of Coca-Cola’s mission in Albania:
-
Social impact: Delivering positive experiences and contributing to communities through responsible business practices.
-
Youth empowerment: Supporting programs that contribute to Tirana’s transformation into a dynamic hub for young people.
-
Sustainable development: Promoting environmental initiatives, job creation, and socio-cultural projects.
On the environmental front, CCBS continues to invest in initiatives that reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency. These include the expansion of its Green Mobility Project with electric vehicles for the sales fleet, increased use of recycled PET, and the installation of large-scale photovoltaic panels covering the production facility—part of the company’s roadmap to become the first carbon-neutral company in Albania by 2030.
“We are proud to be part of the Albanian family,” concluded President Busi. “We will keep the ‘Key of Tirana City’ as a symbol of our responsibility and our commitment to contributing to the country’s sustainable future.”
